Sue is still in Africa making me very jealous with her photos on Safari. These red kites look like they are posing for the camera, in fact they are extremely difficult to photograph because they are so fast! Photos taken at the feeding station in the Black Mountains, Wales. Just watching these magnificent birds glide in the thermals and perform acrobatic manoeuvres and listening to their mewing call was sheer bliss.

There are kites in Oxfordshire too, and we have seen them circling. They are undoubtedly imposing birds, and instantly recognisable, from their size, and wingspan. Great shots Jude.
Regards as always, Pete. x
I see them when I drive along the M40 to London, sometimes hundreds of them, between Warwick and Princes Risborough always so close to the road. I wonder how many accidents they are the cause of?
My friends live near Princes Risborough, that’s where we have seen them, but not over the motorway, luckily! X
Fabulous! I gather it may not be long now before the Welsh and English Kites’ territories finally merge which will be great for genetic diversity 🙂 I’m hoping to go and photograph the southern Kites near Maidenhead soon! Great photos Jude!!
Thanks Sarah – you should see the hundreds that hit the recycle bin! I’d love to see what shots you get with your camera. Good luck!
Birds in flight are hard to capture well! I can do it if I can get close enough 😉
Majestic! I have always found them majestic. They lend their grace to the images.
Thank you 🙂
Welcome.
It’s so hard to take good pictures of birds, Jude, and these are great! Wonderful. 🙂
Thanks Cathy, I did my best 🙂
